Whole cloves are a flavourful and aromatic addition to any health food pantry. These small, dark brown buds have a distinctive, sweet and slightly bitter taste that adds depth and character to a wide range of dishes.

Our whole cloves are carefully selected and sourced from the finest crops.

Cloves are a popular ingredient in many traditional dishes, including baked goods, pickles, and spice blends. They can also be used to add flavour to savoury dishes, such as braises and stews. They have a warm, sweet and slightly bitter flavour that pairs well with other spices and herbs, making them a versatile addition to your kitchen.

Not only do whole cloves add flavour to your dishes, they also have a number of health benefits. Cloves are a good source of fibre and a range of essential minerals, including iron, calcium, and zinc. They have been used for centuries as a natural remedy for toothaches and to support respiratory health.

Here is a recipe suggestion using whole cloves

Spiced Apple Cider Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon of apple cider
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 1 tsp. whole allspice
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, combine the apple cider and brown sugar. Stir until the brown sugar is dissolved.

  2. Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and whole allspice to the pot.

  3. Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the cider to a simmer.

  4. Once the cider is simmering, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. After 15-20 minutes, add the sliced orange and lemon to the pot.

  6. Continue to simmer the cider for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the fruit is soft and the flavours have melded together.

  7. Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

  8. Strain the spiced apple cider through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher or a large bowl.

  9. Serve the spiced apple cider warm in mugs, garnished with additional cinnamon sticks, if desired.

This spiced apple cider is the perfect cozy drink for a chilly day, and the whole cloves and other spices add a warm, comforting flavour that's sure to please.

Add some whole cloves to your next recipe and enjoy the flavour and health benefits they have to offer.
